The role of the Chinese accountants, opportunities and challenges facing ahead are the key issues
that we are most concerned about. We feel honoured to have invited officials, experts, entrepreneurs,
representatives from accounting professional bodies to analyse and address our key concerns. In order to
gauge the views of Chinese accountants worldwide about the Belt and Road initiative, a large scale online
survey has been jointly conducted by the SCAA and the Research Centre for Sustainable Hong Kong at
City University of Hong Kong, the results of which were announced in early May. Moreover, on the Opening
Ceremony, SCAA has formally announced the launch of a global platform uniting all Chinese accountants for
future collaboration.
Last but not the least, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief
Executive of HKSAR, Mr Shen Chong, the Director-General of the Liaison Office of the Central People's
Government in the HKSAR, Mr Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director of the Liason Office of the Central People's
Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhao JianKai, the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
in the HKSAR, Ms Feng Shuping, President of CICPA and Ms Shao Min, Deputy Director of Accounting
Department of Ministry of Finance for their attendance, as well as Mr Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary
of HKSAR for holding the keynote speech; principal support from CICPA and funding from the HKSAR
Professional Services Advancement Support Scheme; Consulates-General from Belt and Road countries,
accounting and taxation bodies, supporting organizations from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas,
guest speakers, business leaders, SCAA council members, past presidents, members of the Organizing
Committee, the Secretariat, production house, PR company, MCs as well as support from all parties. Of
course, we would also like to thank all participants today, especially those who came all the way from the
Mainland or overseas. Without you, today would not have been possible. Thanks to everyone once again
and we hope to see you soon at the next WCAC.
